BSS Resources

BSS Resources

Available in: Enxoo BSS

Products can be decomposed into Resources that are required to deliver a Service. The decomposition may have an impact on the pricing and service delivery.

The relationship between Products and Resources defines how commercial and technical elements of a product catalog work together. While products contain information about the customer-facing aspects of the service, resources may contain technical parameters that drive the delivery process. If your business is based on the cost-plus margin pricing model, resource costs may also be used to drive the final product price.

Creating Resources

To define a new Resource in the system, please follow the steps below:

Step 1. Click New button on the Product level and select the Resource Record Type and click Next.

Step 2. Input the information about the Resource and click Save.

Product Name - name of the Resource.

Resource Type - type of the expenditure - operating of capital.

Resource Category Level 1 - the main category of the resource, that will be populated to the cost item, during its creation.

Resource Category Level 2 - subcategory of the resource, that will be populated to the cost item, during its creation.

Active - defines whether the Resource is active and available in decomposition.

Resource Price Type - defines whether the price is already confirmed or it needs to be verified during the Feasibility process, used by BSS Resources Pricing - Standard Flat Pricing strategy.

Resource Pricing Strategy - indicates the logic used for Resource price calculation (pricing strategies available in Enxoo BSS package BSS Resources Pricing - Standard Flat Pricing , BSS Resources Pricing - Table-Based , BSS Resources Pricing - Vendor Resources Catalog , BSS Resources Pricing - Custom Policy).

Include Resource in Item Price - indicates whether the cost should have an influence on an item price, used by BSS Cost Plus Markup (Solution Element Level) method.

Target Resource Markup - a percentage value that is added to the total cost that will be added to an item price, used by BSS Cost Plus Markup (Solution Element Level) method.

Resource Price CAPEX, Resource Price MRE, Resource Price OTE - indicates the value of the proper expenditure, used in BSS Resources Pricing - Standard Flat Pricing strategy.

Product Currency - the currency of the defined prices.

Each resource needs to have its Type (OPEX or CAPEX) defined!

Linking Products with Resources

When you have your Resources already defined, now you need to define the list of resources required to deliver a service. To do so, select the product that you would like to decompose and go to the Resources Tab. Next, you can use the Resources catalog available at the right, to drag and drop the necessary elements.

Here, you can also edit the Resources, by using a pen icon, to define the possible variants of resources that can be used for delivery or the criteria that will evaluate whether a solution element will be created upon selecting a variant.

You can use the same resource multiple times and vary its creation as a solution element based on mentioned criteria as well as based on defining location type for which it should be created. Location type assignment states whether solution element is created for A side or B side location (or both).

Resource Assignment Criteria

Some of the Resources might be necessary only for some specific environment. To define such a specification, you can use the Resource Assignment Criteria.

Elements that can be used when defining criteria include:

  • Comparison operators,

  • Logical AND/OR operators,

  • Attribute and Attribute Values,

  • Quote Line Item fields.

Attribute, Attribute Values needs to be expressed via Tech External Id. To base the criterium on the Quote Line Field, you need to use its API Name, preceded by “@” - eg. @enxCPQ__Access_Medium__c = “Fibre”.

Please bear in mind, that the criteria need to be separated by a single space.

Text fields should be enclosed within quotation marks “ “.

Picklist values should not be enclosed within quotation marks. Example: @enxCPQ__A_Location_Network_Status__c = off-net

Resource Location Type and Status

From V13 of Enxoo BSS package apart from defining criteria, it is also possible to define for which location and with what location status (based on Cart Item locations) resources need to be applied.

To set up for which location side given resource should be created, you can edit product resource and put this information there:

Available Location Types are the ones defined for Product Resource object (enxCPQ__ProductResource__c) under enxCPQ__Location_Type__c - A Location, B Location, A Location to B Location, when left empty resource is treated as not location dependent.

When the resource is needed at a certain location it is also possible to define Location Network Status, that certain location has to be in order for the resource to be applied. Available Location Network Statuses are the ones defined for Product Resource object (enxCPQ__ProductResource__c) under enxCPQ__Location_Network_Status__c - On-Net, Off-Net, Near-Net, Not Available.

To have specific location information from Cart Item set on created Solution Element it has to be set up in Enxoo BSS Settings → Feasibility Study → Solution Element Field Mapping. This setting will read location type set up in Resources under specific Product.
